ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Ford and Ashtanga Yoga found me in the summer of 2024.  After taking my first led class the practice resonated deeply with me and I knew that this style of asana that resonated with me.

Yoga had come into my life during a time of change and growth.   Working in the alcohol industry for 10 years, it was easy to ignore the problems that it was causing in my life.  Shortly after being introduced to yoga I lost my job in the beer industry after the business closed and ended up leaving a home I thought I may live in for many years.  Yoga brought a new start, new perspective, and sobriety. Ashtanga has helped me find greater inner peace and a strong supportive community.

A 500 hr CYT, I have spent time in Rishikesh, India studying yoga anatomy, alignment, pranayama, meditation, and philosophy.  I also had the opportunity to study in Mysore India, practicing Ashtanga at the Sharath Yoga Center and attending yoga philosophy classes from a local teacher.   My time studying yoga has helped me deepen my understanding of the benefits of a holistic yoga practice and the importance of bringing the practice into all aspects of life.

The positive changes that yoga has brought into my life motivate me to share the practice with others.  As a teacher I want everyone to find their reason to be on their mat everyday and I love to see people experience the growth, grounding  and peace that Ashtanga provides.

Find me with a coffee and a book (recommendations always appreciated!)

Ashtanga Yoga

The style of Ashtanga Yoga was designed by Patabi Jois in Mysore India and is based on the teaches of T. Krishnamacharya.  It consists of 6 series that advance as the practitioner advances in their awareness of their bodies.  These act to purify the body, balance the nervous system, and serve as meditation through movement to calm the mind.  When practiced regularly the results are clear to see in your daily asana practice an your life.
